To The Editor:
I strong disagree with a previous letter writer who said that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s speech was “pure hypocrisy” because it focused on traditional republican lines and used former generations as examples to be be looed up to.
This is just plain silly, of course, as every generation looks to previous ones for signs of inspiration and tradition. One can imagine the Democrats will invoke the names of FDR and JFK and RFK as they look ahead while being inspired by those who have come before.
Perhaps a more pertinent case could be made for Republicans’ affinity for turning back progressive ideas of the Left, especially when it comes to women’s issues such as abortion, Planned Parenthood and the like.
