To the Editor:
The California legislature is not completely broken.
Look only to the California legislation “AB 1747 Feuer” to witness consumer protection at its best. AB 1747 takes life insurance company billing practices and regulates them. Life insurance carriers’ late notice practices were applied to consumers in a variety of ways.
In the worst case someone could lose their coverage after paying the premiums for years. When I discussed this with Assemblyman Feuer he and his staff looked into it and took on the challenge. The key was cooperation from all parties.
The result is very good consumer oriented legislation. And it occurred in under 1 year! Virtually no opposition…how often does that happen?
