To the Editor:

Back in the shadowy days of the Clinton administration of the stained black dress, wagging fingers telling us he did not have sex with that intern, and friends that got murdered with the Park Police in charge, we have a change that happened in 1994 that allowed the Clinton crew to change the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The methodology included an alternative unemployment rate that removed from the unemployment rolls those that were categorized as the long term discouraged workers which the BLS crossed off the list of those that were considered unemployed.

A Politically Skewed Manipulation

With a politically skewed manipulation of the real unemployment figures getting whittled down to 8.3%, when the real unemployed are figured in it looks like a more truthful picture is found at the logical number of 22.5%. The manipulation of the numbers by the BLS makes it look like the Obama Administration is making headway when in fact real unemployment, when you count in the totals for workers that are no longer looking, runs to 1920′s depression levels of the previous real number of 22.5% that John Williams of the “Shadow Government Statistics” who has railed for years that the fed twists the numbers to make them say what they want them to say.

What is a Depression?

The media in the financial world usually defines a financial depression as being a loss of 10% in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which is more than anything just a rule of thumb. Ronald Reagan once said, “Recession is when a neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours.”

Numbers Are Skewed for Political Reasons

In a world where the very thought of trying to analyze a macroeconomic happening measured in dollars in a world where cash is electronic debt, property is still declining in value, capital investments flows freely across economic borders, cheap labor immigrates across our southern borders uninhibited, and politicians leave the government’s biggest expenses off the books has become increasingly absurd over time. How could you ever try to figure out if the economy is expanding or contracting when the numbers used are skewed for political purposes?

News Release Says

A Feb. 2012 news release from BLS told the public that the rate of unemployment had fallen 0.2% from the previous 8.5% we previously had in Dec. of 2011. However, the part of the report that did not make the evening news is the BLS reports the U6 unemployment is 15.6%, U6 meaning those people that were marginally attached to the work force in what is now called the under employed, people looking for full time wages but had to settle for part time jobs. So in not releasing those figures, then dropping those workers who had fallen off the radar after looking for jobs for a year, it is quite clear what the present administration is trying to do. Williams reported that the stats of 8.3% that made the media sound bites were mathematically manipulated and just simply not believable.

Adding Back

Williams put it this way in a report, his official Alternative Unemployment Rate comes out to be 22.5% when you add back into the Bureau of Labor Statistics U6 numbers, the long termed laborers that have fallen off the radar, and have stopped looking for jobs the past year. The BLS of course only reports the U3 stats that are adjusted seasonally which was the 8.3% that was blared out over every news media station.

Keystone Nuked

You can tell just by looking at the BLS own fully reported stats that the nation is in fact in trouble, has been for quite some time, is getting better no time soon, and there seems to be no remedy on the horizon coming down the road. The torpedoing of the Keystone pipeline that was to run from Canada down into Houston Texas would have employed at the peak at least 100,000 jobs directly and another 20,000 jobs indirectly, has been moved to the back burner.

Jobless Recovery

The jobless recovery scenario is a little more nebulous, with the precise timing of the recovery unknown, with little growth for the future estimated, and in danger of turning into a double dip recession, the uncertainty of the foreign export markets, contractions in the European and Asian markets, the double dip looks like the ice cream of the future.

Obama Stimulus a Bust

While the Obama stimulus package looks like a bust, the call for more recovery money not looking good, the pundits and the economists saying that whatever economic growth we do have will not sufficiently reduce the unemployment numbers and the figures will be much higher than normal, the look for economic growth looks grim for 2012 with little or no growth predicted.

The Straight Ahead Future

Looking into this crystal ball into the straight ahead future, while car sales have been good, manufacturing up slightly, and enough money flowing into the treasury to pay the necessary bills on time, if things just stay the same the double dip still looks like it could happen with the jobless recovery in full bloom. Those who adhere to variants of the jobless recovery say the USA is headed for a prolonged jobless recovery where only certain parts of the economy will recover while other segments will remain stagnant.

The Truth Is Different

What we really have waiting for us is historical warning signs that there are increasing numbers of consumer bankruptcies and mortgage defaults, credit debt is out of sight, there is also the unknown impact of enough possible bank failures to render the FDIC insolvent, the possibility of a U.S. state like California going bankrupt, or a possible crash in the derivatives market. Not speaking to the fact that being 4 trillion in debt will do anything good for the future economy or that the out of control printing of money by the Fed might have on our inflation scale when the working class will be unable to keep up. My take on this is the future looks so bright I have to wear shades.

         To the Editor:

Barack Obama came into the spotlight like a tornado but instead of promising destruction he wafted through with hope and change and he did it with kindness, honesty and forthrightness plus he humbly asked for help with his mission. Therein lays the dilemma that the people did not follow his example choosing instead to simulate lost sheep wandering oblivious to their stake and participation in the task at hand.

Unfortunately this is being echoed throughout all countries suffering the indignity of recession and depression because the leaders on the ground are also lost in the quagmire of hapless practices. There are solutions and these have been suggested to us since the dawning of time but blindness overshadows clarity and we have the repetitive scenario of the blind leading the blind.

When we choose leaders like Obama to represent our interests in the highest offices it is our duty to assist them in everyway but without a follow up plan we are clueless as to how we may be effective. We may blame the political machine, individual political parties, religious and business leaders or we can blame green men in outer space.

Whichever route we choose there has to be a fundamental plan of action with direction for the smallest group to follow as well as the biggest groups representing their respective interests. Individual lobbying has no place in a society that desires advancement because if we all do not advance then our civilisation lays dormant in primitive schedules and practices.

When Moses was leading his flock from Egypt it was suggested to him to set up mastermind groups as a way of managing the daily tasks thus delegating the onerous and tedious tasks in the hands of those on the ground and Moses could then facilitate his time to the more demanding objectives of his journey. It worked largely but like all things human involving separate interests brings mostly trivial travails but it is essential to not allow them to enlarge thus creating even larger problems.

Every country or entity has one leader and it falls into that leader’s workload to diversify each portfolio into the hands of the most competent managers. Each country or state has counties and within these are townslands and cities with their own marginal electorate of counselors and managers. It is with these that the task of organizing the members of each society lays but few if any actually think of setting up a mastermind concept and as a consequence the people are adrift apart from the real happenings of society. This follows the ladder to the President, King or Queen and Prime Minister or whatever the title may be to bear the full responsibility of inept behaviours that need not be present. Basically if local government did its job effectively the successes of the state or country would be real and tangible developing a more positive outlook.

There are too many self interests in government where the little picture takes the place of the larger picture and as long as this practice continues the leaders at the top will be blamed for the ineffectiveness of the leaders down the chain. Everyone wants a definitive leadership to produce amazing results but those results cannot be attained unless everyone in the chain is strong and forthright. If we cannot do this collectively then self interests groups will continue to manipulate and the general populace shall be the fall guy.

We can change governments and leaders all day long but if we do not embrace the change in our own life and our circle of influence then leaders like Obama shall continue to be disappointed while continuing to do something the rest will not do. They bear the full responsibility that is not theirs alone to carry; it is the responsibility of all of us and we need to walk side by side with our leaders not throwing misdirected criticism!

Sincerely,

Florida is the state that makes or breaks a candidate. Since 1972, the winner of the Florida primary has become the party’s nominee. In 2012, this winner was Mitt Romney.

Romney won Tuesday’s race in a landslide, receiving 47 percent, with Newt Gingrich coming in second place with 32 percent. Rick Santorum and Ron Paul each received 13 and 7 percent, respectively. The results are a major setback for Gingrich, especially after winning in South Carolina last week, ironically a state that also shares the reputation of choosing the nominee. He skyrocketed in early Florida polls, as well.

What reversed Newt’s momentum? I believe one too many negative ads shot him in both feet. Last week, a Gingrich ad called Romney the “the most anti-immigrant” candidate in the race. While Romney expectedly defended himself against the harsh attack, Marco Rubio, Florida’s senator and a Tea Party favorite, defended Romney, calling the ad “inaccurate and inflammatory.”

Newt’s attack on Romney astounded many. Not only was it harsh, but also incredibly vague. When questioned about the ad last Thursday by CNN debate moderator Wolf Blitzer, Gingrich responded that Romney desires to round up and deport illegal families.

While the ad may not seem like a big deal on its own, this incident is part of a larger issue. Before the primaries began, while still a marginal candidate, Gingrich ran on the notion that his was a “positive campaign” and the main objective was to defeat Barack Obama. However, the optimism disappeared as soon as he saw Romney as a threat, and Newt started berating him with characteristically left-wing attacks, from Romney’s record at Bain Capital to his apparent desire to mercilessly deport illegals. Newt’s latest rant was clearly to pander to Florida’s large Latino population, and a harbinger to the fact that he will say whatever it takes to win. He believed that the Hispanic vote would be awarded to the candidate who is lax and “compassionate” on illegal immigration. By painting Romney as the opposite, Gingrich hoped to find favor in the Latino community.

Rubio proves that Hispanics at large do not feel this way. The senator takes pride in the fact that his parents legally emigrated from Cuba and worked hard for their earnings, and that their son, who came from a poor, working-class Latino family, is now one of the most popular Republican politicians. His story personifies the American dream, not to mention the conservative message of individual liberty and prosperity at its best. The Hispanic community doesn’t stand for politicians who believe that tolerance of illegal immigration will win its vote. It confirmed that on Florida by choosing Romney over Gingrich, 54 to 28 percent.

The American public is growing tired of politicians doing whatever it takes to win, no matter the outcome of their actions. The country wants a president that cares more about the country than his own achievement. It needs leadership, pride, and integrity.

To The Editor:

Remember that story that consumed our news media three months ago about the U.S. Department of Agriculture manager who was accused of being a racist? Yeah, remember, she was caught on tape saying she wouldn’t be zealous in helping a farmer because he was white? And it turns out those quotes were taken out of context from a speech in which she was talking about something that happened years ago, a story she was using as an exhortation to her audience never to act that way?

Yeah, that was crazy. People trying to drum up more racism in America. While that was going on, another group of “media journalists” were asserting that the “tea party is full of racists” – never mind the troubling facts that the “tea party” is a large, non-centralized movement with no clear identity (“journalists” hate anything that isn’t centralized) and that there was absolutely no evidence anywhere that anyone in association with any tea party event or group ever exhibited any racist behaviors.

No evidence? No problem. Not in this age of what passes as “journalism” in this country.

Here we are now, three weeks before the mid-term U.S. elections, and it’s Stupid Season. Judging from the ads we see and hear in a constant daily bombardment, we are supposed to be stupid enough to believe anything, and evidence would only confuse us.

A commercial in Florida pulls sound-bites from a candidate’s speech that makes him sound like a right-wing Christian zealot who expects his wife to obey him… he was giving a speech in which he was making exactly the opposite point.

A major governor’s race is mired in an accusation that one candidate employed and then heartlessly fired a self-proclaimed illegal immigrant. The candidate’s opponent (who happens to be the state attorney general and has done nothing to prosecute the only sure criminal in the case – the illegal immigrant) asserts that the other candidate knew she was employing an illegal when it was to her economic benefit, and then quickly scrapped the poor unfortunate when she decided to run for governor because it would look bad, of course. There are absolutely no facts to substantiate any of those assertions; in fact, there are a few facts that refute them.

A national ad proclaims that one party’s supporters are taking “secret foreign money” – it even shows a ruffling stack of Chinese yuan bills – and paints the picture for Us Stupid (U.S.) Dummies that, basically, the Chinese are putting forth that evil party’s candidates to take over the country and do their bidding. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is implicated (those capitalist pigs!). David Axelrod, the president’s longtime friend and advisor, appeared on a “media journalism” program over the weekend and was actually asked if he had any evidence of this serious charge – in reply to which Mr. Axelrod asked the “journalist” whether he had any evidence that it WASN’T true.

No evidence? No problem.

These are supposed to be our leaders. Oh, boy. I suggest you not wait around to be led by these people, because you don’t want to go where they’re going! Start a business of your own so you can build your entrepreneurial skills and have an income of your very own… don’t expect your employer to take care of you. Start a health-kick so you can keep yourself energetic and vital… not just because you’ll need that energy to drive your business and run your household, but because you can’t expect the government’s health care program to take care of you. And start getting a real education about the global conspiracy against your money, before it’s too late.

It’s Stupid Season. Let the stupid have their season… meanwhile, take this time to quietly build a future around personal responsibility and personal values. After all, if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.

To the Editor:

All summer long, Jon Corzine has been touting gains in private sector jobs as “proof” that his policies have brought New Jersey out of recession. But his July claims vanished in an August “statistical update” and the September numbers show that we’ve lost another 12,000 private sector jobs as unemployment climbed to 9.8%, yet another 32 year record high. We feel the pain of these lost jobs in our communities regardless of what Corzine says.

While its bad enough that the Corzine administration has played games with the numbers trying to make a bad situation look better, it now turns out that Corzine has tried to “be creative” in hyping how his policies have aided job creation. All the spin in the world won’t change the reality that New Jersey is broken, and Corzine broke it.

We can all see what Corzine won’t say, that there’s a connection between his tax policies and the ever escalating unemployment rate. But instead of rolling back taxes and giving our small businesses a helping hand, Corzine talks of new fuel, sales and income taxes, only causing more jobs to move to Pennsylvania, Delaware and other neighboring states.

Corzine can claim things are getting better and jobs are being created but its just not true and everyone knows it, including his own staff.

We need Chris Christie in Trenton to start fixing a problem Corzine can’t even admit exists.

Sincerely,
Joan B.

To the Editor:

It’s easy to drift along with life entrusting your future to nameless others. Someone will look after you or take care of getting the garbage out to the road. Your leaders know and care about you.

Not True if you don’t:

Know them.

Send them money.

Work on their campaigns.

Vote.

If you are not in one of these four groups politicians don’t know you! As a matter of fact you don’t exist. You are not a squeaky wheel and therefore will not get any grease.

Politicians are masters of the Free:

Free money, yours.

Free labor, yours.

Free vote, yours.

When you vote, don’t vote the straight ticket. Remember that what’s said in a political campaign is not meant to be taken as truth. In other words, candidates will lie, often lie, seriously lie if it means they can win. To know a candidate you will have to investigate. This is time consuming, difficult and may cost you money.

Keep taking pot shots at the candidate’s talking points. My girl friend called them “stalking points.” Has the taxes been paid? Has the candidate ever needed to work? Is there a love child? Did the candidate ever commit a crime? Is the candidate above the law? Is the candidate above your petty judgments oblivious to your lifestyle needs? Does the candidate stand for anything not based on polls and focus groups? Typically the candidate will be tripped up on one of the points above.

If you don’t spend your money to defeat those against you, you aren’t serious. If you won’t vote against those against you, you deserve to lose your country. If you can’t choose the best of the worst then run for the office. No one said you couldn’t be corrupted. If your political party is not willing to do something for you then leave it for one that will.

Sometimes when a political party takes over a government the citizens have to be quiet in order to survive. If congress has mandated then congress in the future can unmandate. Yes, I know congress believes it can manage anything better than business or taxpayers.

How well has congress managed?

The economy

Jobs or reduce unemployment

Housing

Immigration

Class and race structure

Health Care

War

There once was a powerful leader who listened carefully to those who advised him about his subjects. This was strange since none of the advisors had been a leader or subject within the kingdom. They described what he should wear, the content of his speeches, the projection of his image within the kingdom.

A cellophane garment was constructed for the leader. He would wear it on the annual pilgrimage to his birthplace. The great day came and the leader went forth in his new garment. His subjects bowed as he passed by.

When asked about their great leader they said:

We prefer to see less of our great leader.

We prefer to hear our leader than his advisors.

We fear for the great leader’s welfare.

Our leader will one day remove the locusts of advisors from the land.

Upon hearing this the great leader was angry. What does this mean he inquired of his advisors. They responded with your subjects need to be taught a lesson in respect.

The great leader reflected long and hard upon this advice. A great banquet was held and all the advisors attended and feasted. During the entertainment advisors fell by one, by two and so on.

The advisors moaned most groaned why? At the end the great leader arose from his seat and spake, “Is not the proof in the tasting?”

If government ceases to be in tune with its citizens revolution looms. When a citizens voluntarily cease to be a part of the government the end is coming! A government that fails to perform its duties can’t exist.

To the Editor:

As a professional political consultant, many would-be candidates come to me and say, “I want to run for office.” My response to them is always the same… “are you sure?”

Now, it may seem odd that I ask that question, given that my income is dependent on new candidates running for office and hiring our firm to help them win. But the truth is, I’ve worked with a number of candidates that shouldn’t have been running in the first place, and it’s hard on them, and hard on their staff and consulting team… and usually, it’s nearly impossible for them to win.

Before throwing your hat in the ring, ask yourself the following questions:

1. Is my family behind me?

If your family (wife, kids, other family members you are close to) do not support your run for office, you’re going to have a real uphill battle to win. Campaigns take time and hard work, and are very stressful. Did I mention they take time? Your campaign will keep you away from your family for extended periods and make you tired and stressed out. If your family didn’t want you to run in the first place, well… let’s just say the dinner table won’t be a fun place, and that angst will spill over into your performance on the campaign trail.

2. Am I willing to work really hard?

Despite what the media would have you think, running for office isn’t easy. Campaigning isn’t all about being on TV and going to nice fundraising dinners (and even if it was, those get tedious real fast). It’s about giving speeches… hundreds of them, to groups of 10 or 20 people, day in and day out. Usually, it’s the exact same speech you’ve given over and over again. Running for office is about making phone calls… dozens of them every day, to ask for money, hear people complain, thank your supporters, and to just listen. When you campaign, you’ll be in the car (or on a plane) for hours a day, shake thousands of hands, and nod your head and smile for 30 out of every 60 minutes. Are you ready to work hard?

3. Am I willing to ask people for money?

Nobody likes to fundraise, and I mean nobody. Sure, some people get good at it (or at least comfortable with it), but very few people would choose fundraising for their campaign as a way to spend their day. Unfortunately, running for office takes money. If you don’t have lots of money to put into your own campaign, you’re going to have to ask others to donate it to your effort. The only real way to do that in a local campaign is for the candidate (that’s you!) to ask. Your staff, fundraising consultant, and wife can’t do it for you.

Are you willing to get on the phone and ask your friends, family, and those guys you used to hang out with in college to donate money to your campaign? Are you willing to utter the words, “Will you give $2,000?” and really mean it? Fundraising is an integral part of every campaign, and the candidate is the fundraiser-in-chief.

If you have good ideas and want to change the direction of your town, city, county, state, or country, you can and should run for office. But be prepared, and know what you’re getting into. Use the questions above to make sure that you’re ready to run for office, and then get out there and get started!

To the Editor:

Most citizens in the United States of America do not vote. Many never registered to vote, many others are registered but simply don’t vote. In the last federal election, fifty nine percent of the registered voters in this country showed up to vote. Of approximately two hundred and seven million registered voters in this country, only one hundred and twenty two million felt that it was important enough to take some time out of their day to vote for the president of the United States. Of these, approximately sixty two million voted for George W. Bush and approximately fifty nine million voted for John Kerry. Approximately one million two hundred thousand people voted for someone other than the two main party candidates. This leaves approximately eighty five million registered voters that did not vote. Eighty five million people would have been enough for any of the candidates running; even those in any of the third parties who all got less than one percent of the vote, to win. Why did all these voters decide not to show up at the polls in 2004?

The answer to the above question is, of course, varied and complicated. Still, I am willing to bet that a majority of these voters were simply apathetic. Many of them probably felt helpless, or that their vote didn’t matter. If they had voted for George Bush or John Kerry, their votes would be wasted like the vast majority of votes are wasted when voting for a Republican or Democrat. That’s because these people know that Democrats and Republicans are, for the most part, already bought and paid for by corporations and special interests. They have no faith in the current system because the current system has been corrupted and let us down for as long as most can remember. Many of them probably never realized that their numbers were enough that they could have voted in third party candidates at any time if they had just gotten up and voted for them. They have repeatedly been told that voting for third party candidates was a waste of a vote until they are so brainwashed that they believe the propaganda and they decide to stay home and not vote. They believe that there are only two choices. They believe that they have to vote for the lesser of two evils and so they decide not to vote at all rather than vote for evil. They believe that nothing will change no matter who they vote for, that the government is just going to do what it wants, going so far as to break its own laws and regulations. They see their rights eroding away and still they do nothing, believing that the system is broken beyond repair and there is nothing they can do about it. They walk through life disowned by the system, wanting nothing but to be left alone and instead their government gets more intrusive after each election. Feeling robbed by a callous government, they scream for relief wanting only to be able to mind their own business and their shouts fall upon deaf ears. They tire of war and the corruption and grief that go with it, and even after they send out a rallying cry around it, even when they let their feelings be known in an unequivocal manner by electing what they thought would be an anti-war congress, their cries are ignored. It is no wonder the voters are apathetic. They have given up hope.

Ron Paul hasn’t. He still believes in America. He still believes in the constitution. He still believes in the Bill of Rights. He still believes people matter. He fights from within the two party systems, wanting to take back one of the parties for the people, wanting to bring back fair representation for all and not just the wealthy few. He wants to reintegrate those eighty five million people and give them back hope. He wants to give us all the freedom to decide our own destinies, and he wants to do it by decreasing the size of government and giving us the ability to decide for ourselves what is truly important in our personal lives. This is his true agenda, and those in power are frightened by it. They know the power of the individual, they know the power of free choice and they know the power of the truth. That is why they try to make you believe he has no chance of winning, why they portray him as a Libertarian whose dreams and ideals are just too impractical for today’s world. That is why they wanted to exclude him from the last debate. The other candidates want the apathy to remain in place. They want to maintain control of you. Ron Paul wants to give you back the control you so richly deserve, the control that the Bill of Rights states the government will not take from you.

Ron Paul is not only a politician, he’s a doctor. When he practiced medicine he was honest with his patients and expected them to take part in their treatment. To do this, he may have, at times, tried to change the attitude of his patients. Sometimes that’s more important than anything else a doctor can do. He has diagnosed America’s problems and has come up with a treatment for them. Part of the problem in America is apathy. He can fight this problem with his message of freedom and liberty. More than this, he can fight it by his actions, which anyone can see by his voting record. He consistently voted against legislation that removes our freedoms and replaces them with government nannyism. This message is a powerful one, and if it gets out to the apathetic it may resonate within them and get them to become active in America’s treatment. If enough of us spread the word, if enough of us realize our ills and take action to help treat them, Ron Paul just might be able to cure America’s apathy, and other diseases inflicting our country as well. Register as a republican. Vote for Ron Paul. Vote for other freedom advocates running for congressional offices. Become involved. It is time to restore hope to our country. It is time for us to reclaim our personal responsibility. It is time for us to once again care.

Sincerely,

To the Editor:

Money is a fact of life in politics. Without it, campaigns find it extremely hard to get their message out, raise the profile of their candidate, and hire and equip staff to oversee the campaign’s volunteer and grassroots organizations. While most candidates would rather spend their time making speeches and thinking about the issues, the fact is that every campaign – no matter how large or small – must raise enough to be able to run an effective targeted campaign.

Raising money for your campaign may not be your favorite activity, but it doesn’t have to be the tedious, painful affair that many current and potential candidates make it out to be. Here are our top 3 tips for raising money for your campaign:

1. Start with People You Know

I always advise candidates that the best place to start looking for campaign money is close to home. Candidates should sit down with their holiday card list, personal and business rolodexes, and high school and college yearbooks to put together their initial fundraising lists. Remember, the people that are most likely to give to your campaign are the people you know the best. Start by calling your friends and family and asking them to support your campaign, and your efforts will start to steamroll.

2. Go Viral

Unless you are running for the most local of offices in the smallest of districts, it is unlikely that you will know enough people to be able to raise your entire campaign budget simply by calling your friends and family. The next step, after you’ve exhausted your holiday card list, is to make your fundraising efforts go viral by building a fundraising network. It sounds complicated, but it is really quite simple – building a fundraising network simply means getting other people to help you fundraising by motivating them to reach out to their own networks on your behalf. Get your contacts and colleagues to make calls and hold events to raise money for your campaign from among their own friends and contacts. In business, this is called “going viral.”

3. Go Back, Again and Again

If someone gives once to your campaign, they are very likely to give again, if asked. Once someone contributes money to your campaign, they are “on your team,” and have a vested interest in seeing you succeed. Unless a donor has “maxed out” (i.e. contributed the maximum amount allowed by law), you should ask them to donate again later in the campaign. Set up a process early in the campaign for re-soliciting donors over and over again, through a variety of mediums. Obviously, you don’t want to over do it, but if you stay in touch with your donors through newsletters, your website, and free cultivation events, you’ll be able to go back to them 4, 5 or even 6 times during the course of the campaign to ask for another contribution.

Fundraising for your political campaign doesn’t have to be hard, so long as you develop a good fundraising plan, target your friends and family, ask them to reach out into their own networks, then re-solicit your donors again and again.

To the Editor:

We The People, three simple words that changed the world in July of 1776 and have changed the world every day since. It is truly mind boggling how those three words have based the way every person on the planet operates. People the world over yearn for the American dollar, American clothing, and other American made products. They love our movies, our entertainment, and our way of life. Oh sure, there are a few out there that live in caves and herd goats that think we may be heathens but I’m sure they have satellite TV dishes on top of their mountains somewhere. After all, who could not live without FOX news and talk radio?

The United States of America was founded on the idea that every citizen has the right to express their views no matter how extreme their political views or beliefs. The first amendment of the Constitution guarantees that right. The Constitution was written by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. These founding fathers knew that these rights that we as citizens enjoy would someday be tested. They knew that there would be enemies that would come along both within the Government and beyond the national borders. They also knew that these enemies would make attempts to make changes in our government to gain control or dictate our day to day lives.

These founding fathers were wise beyond their years. They could see that many terrible issues could arise within our government and installed a fail safe system in the Constitution to make sure our way of life would be insured and our government would operate the way it was originally designed. That fail safe system is you. Yes you. We are the last line of defense to insure that the American system of government survives.

We the people have become complaisant with our way of life. The stress of day to day living has blinded us to what those who we have elected into office are actually doing when they get to Washington DC. The stress of making sure the mortgage is paid and the car is not repossessed, and the children’s shoes meet the peer inspection have taken the place of calling your congress person or representative and telling them how you would like to have them vote on bills and other important legislation. We are giving these elected officials a free hand to do what they wish through our own ignorance.

I know, you are sitting there after a hard day’s night and worrying about all the issues that we face day to day and snickering about this article. That’s Ok to think that all will be well for you and your children. It’s Ok to laugh at us that are taking this last line of defense thing very seriously. Do you know what the National Debt is? Do you know how much money we owe China? Do you know how much money we are printing every day that is not backed by anything? Do you know where the TARP money is going?

We the people must make it our business to know and to let these elected officials our concerns in these matters. We have to know what will happen if health care become a government run program. You are the last line of defense. Arm yourself with the facts, become an educated patriot. Tell the elected officials that this is not politics as usual. Tell them that this has nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans. This government is run by American citizens. “We The People” and we understand that “Self Government will fail without Self Discipline”
